Nature of the Study Group

The Mitsubishi Computer and Communication ( C & C ) Research Association was formed in May 1983 by 43 Mitsubishi-related companies as its regular corporate members. The so-called Mitsubishi group is Japan's largest industrial group, comprising a wide range of manufacturing and non-manufacturing companies in Japan's key industries and businesses.

As an industrial group-wide professional research and study organization, the Mitsubishi C & C Research Association is dedicated to strengthening collaborative relationships among those Mitsubishi member companies for the purpose of jointly studying C & C related technologies, as well as legal, technical, and marketing environments surrounding these state-of-the-art developments.

To achieve this objective, the Research Association holds regularly scheduled meetings, monthly study sessions, lecture meetings, and year-round workshops. Both senior-ranking government officials and leading scholars are invited as speakers and discussion leaders. The Research Association also provides member companies with various opportunities for exchanging information and opinions among themselves concerning their common areas of interest and topical issues.

Structure of the Research Association

The structure of the Mitsubishi C & C Research Association is shown in the following chart. The current fiscal year's main officers of the Research Association are also shown in the following pages. The operational management of all the regular activities of the Research Association is undertaken by its full-time secretariat, established within the Mitsubishi Research Institute's executive offices.

The nuclei of the structure of the Research Association are autonomous working groups, with their members annually renewed from among the member companies. For fiscal 2009, there are eight such working groups, each assigned with a specific study theme for year-round activity, as described below. Each member company is expected to participate in any one of these active self-managed working parties for deepening their professional interest in the selected topic.
